Largest Figure in My Collection

 

I've not been doing anything hobby wise this year as I've been re-settling into my home. This has involved a significant amount of home improvements including the type of painting I don't like - walls. But I've put down the wide brush and roller (thank the Gods) and am now decorating.

This chap is my mannequin who used to be clothed with his aketon and hauberk next to him on an armour stand. I decided to up my game and see if I couldn't get his full rig on. Clearly I managed it and with much profanity but as I live on my own now, there was nobody to be offended or complain.

The kite shield will likely be replaced one day as it's not truly period specific. The rampant goat is a later, medieval blazon from my family name. Like most of us, we can't trace back our lineage further than the mid-seventeenth century. This device is from the coat-of-arms seen at the village church and dates from the mid-fifteenth century and earlier. My branch of the family cannot know if we are directly descended from the Normans who arrived in England in the eleventh century or if we are from folk who were from the town named after them.

Anyway, at 1:1 scale, my Milites is the largest figure in my collection and guards over the property when I'm not in residence.
